ANU NECTAR Mentoring Program 2019 at a glace
  • 1-year facilitated Program (starting in April 2019 and finishing in March 2020).
  • More than 200 participants from all ANU Colleges.
  • Career-development mentoring for ECAs at ANU.
  • Mentors with diverse experiences and qualities, including experience in academia, industry and beyond.
  • Career development workshops for Mentees and Mentors and networking opportunities.

 

2019 Program outline
  • Program commencement
    • 3-hour workshop for Mentees (repeat sessions, choose which one suits you)
      • 3 April 2019, 10am-1pm or
      • 8 April 2019, 9am-12pm
      • Mentees will be required to do some reflective preparation before attending the workshop.
    • 1-hour reflective session for Mentors plus optional in-depth workshop
      • 12 April 2019
      • Workshop (optional): 10-11.30am
      • Peer-to-peer reflective session: 11.30am-12.30pm
    • Speed-meet your Mentor/Mentee
      • 12 April 2019, 12.30-1.30pm
  • Matching
    • Mentor nominations due 12 May 2019
    • Mentee-Mentor pairs introductions
      • 14 June 2019, 10-11am
  • Mid-Program

    • End-of-Program social gathering with all Program participants

The ANU NECTAR Mentoring Program is governed by the Program Governance Committee. In 2019, the Committee had the following members:

Background

This Program was developed by the Joint Colleges of Science Early Career Academic Development Committee in 2015-2017. In collaboration with this committee, the inaugural ANU NECTAR Mentoring Program was delivered ANU-wide through NECTAR in 2018-19. Evaluation shows that this Program was a success as an all-disciplinary ECA-led initiative.
