Who are we?

NECTAR came about as a result of the inaugural (2008) Early Career Academic Program facilitated by the Centre for Career Development. Four program graduates – Drs Jochen Brocks, Nicolas Cherbuin, Daniela Rubatto and Jochen Trumpf – conceived and developed the NECTAR initiative in response to the question “Could it be that the only thing preventing us from forging amazing academic careers is ourselves?” Their proposal was approved by the ANU Executive in late 2010 and implemented in 2011.

The current NECTAR Custodian Team, supported by our college contacts ensures that the NECTAR space remains an independent, accessible and supportive space for early career academics who want to make a difference.

So what exactly does it mean to be a Custodian?
