ANU NECTAR 10 year Journey
Why did early-career academics create NECTAR?
10 years ago, a group of early-career academics led a change at ANU, that continues to make a difference to this day. Key achievements of NECTAR over the decade:
- Representation and conversations on how to enable early-career academics
- A program and advocacy group connecting researchers across and beyond the campus
- Mentoring Program giving all ANU early- and mid-career academics access to mentoring since 2018

Early-career academic awareness week 2021
Would you like to share your stories, successes and challenges of being an ECA at ANU?
NECTAR is seeking input from ECAs to be featured in our newsletters to increase the understanding of current challenges ECAs are facing, with the aim of of rasing awareness across the ANU community of what it takes to be successful.
Please get in touch with us here to learn more and share your story. You may also choose to remain anonymous in our newsletters.

What are your plans for 2021? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain leadership skills? Would you like to meet other engaged ECAs and work together to make a difference? Then join the NECTAR Custodian team. We strive to recruit a diverse team of Custodians and encourage ECAs from all backgrounds and walks of life to join, including casual academic staff, visiting fellows and PhD candidates.
And if you are looking for something that requires a little less time commitment: become part of NECTAR’s network across all schools, centres and institutes through the newly created role of NECTAR School Representative. We are currently looking for ECAs from all areas within ANU who would like to join the School Representatives team.
Ready to join? Submit your expression of interest through this short form or email nectar@anu.edu.au. In your expression of interest, please include a short paragraph on why you would like to become a Custodian and/or School Representative.
