NECTAR Advocates and School Representatives

NECTAR aims to create a network across all (research) schools, centers and institutes at ANU. This is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge regarding support, issues and opportunities for early-career academics. The contact people in the different areas are called NECTAR School Representatives. These roles are to:

  • engage with ECAs and matters related to ECAs in their local area
  • report back to NECTAR on a biannual basis on matters regarding ECA development and support, e.g. what are the issues affecting ECAs at the school and efforts by the school to support ECA development
  • attend the NECTAR Annual General Meeting (1hr) and the meeting of NECTAR Advocates (2hr TBC) or at least one other NECTAR meeting per year

The Advocates role is a voluntary role. You can put in an expression of interest to join this team at any time. A commitment for at least 6 months is encouraged and School Representatives are expected to notify the NECTAR office if they would like to step down from the role.

Ideally, the NECTAR Advocates hold relevant positions within the school, such as being the early-career representative on school committees or are otherwise involved in relevant activities, but this is not essential. Being a NECTAR Custodian in addition to NECTAR Advocate is encouraged but not required.

If you are interested in becoming a NECTAR Advocate, please contact the NECTAR Office or submit your Expression of Interest here.
