12-1.30pm Evidencing your promotion application for success New to applying for promotion in the ANU system? Promotion panels at ANU may have limited knowledge of what success looks like in your field. Join Michael Martin and NECTAR in a discussion over lunch about how you can convince judging panels by supporting your applications with contextual information to evidence your successes. 2.30-3.30pm, Badger & Co Monthly NECTAR Social Join us for an afternoon catch-up and meet John Debs from ANU MakerSpace. MakerSpace is a community and space where all ANU staff and students can build and make anything to support their education, research or hobbies. John will talk about the MakerSpace mission and projects, and will explain how you can become a ‘Maker’ yourself. After the short talk, stay on to socialise with John or fellow ECAs. 2-3pm, CHELT Seminar Room Monthly NECTAR Social October is Mental Health Month. Join us on 10 October, World Mental Health Day, for an afternoon tea and relax in a friendly environment. Meet our guest speaker Gail Frank, ANU Adviser to Staff, and learn what support is available to you and your family at ANU. Gail will also give you some tips on how you can maintain your wellbeing. 9.30am-12.30pm Write that journal article in 7 days In this workshop with Inger Mewburn from ANU Research Skills and Training you will look at a 'fast track' method for getting a journal article together from work you already have. You will explore some publishing strategies and do a series of exercises designed to help you give your article focus and touch on the tricky subject of sharing authorship. Lastly, you will learn about some alternative writing techniques which can speed up the process of producing an article.
